The Ogbu Uke Kalu Centre for Research in Christianity and Culture in Africa is devoted to advancing scholarship on African Christianity and Pentecostalism. The Centre welcomes researchers, students, and the public to explore its rich archives, participate in lectures and conferences, and connect across borders on the study of faith, migration, and African heritage.

Challenge

The Centre’s old website struggled to share its mission, resources, and events with a global audience. Navigation was challenging, and it didn’t foster the sense of inclusion or scholarly energy that defines the Centre. Researchers and students found it hard to access archives, learn about upcoming conferences, or get involved in meaningful ways.

Solution

We worked hand-in-hand with Centre leadership, rebuilding the website to highlight accessibility, warmth, and scholarly connection. Key features included a searchable resource library, an updated events calendar, mobile-friendly layouts, and personal stories from the Centre’s diverse community, all designed to encourage participation and make research resources easy to find.

Results

The Centre received more inquiries from new countries, saw expanded participation in online workshops, and heard directly from students who accessed research materials and professional opportunities thanks to the improved site. Positive feedback highlighted the welcoming design and ease of use, aligning the digital experience with the Centre’s values of open scholarship and cultural celebration.
